"Reduce loading dock injuries from slips and falls on ice and snow..."
Altragrips-Lite® Shoe Attachments
Warehouse and Loading Dock Safety - Altragrips-Lite image
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 15% of all lost time accidents is caused by slips and falls. A disproportionately high number of those injuries result from slips and falls on or around the loading dock caused by wet floors immediately inside the warehouse from the dock doors combined with dock itself where you have water, snow and ice. Depending on the weather it's not practical or even possible to eliminate these slippery conditions.

Requiring employees on the loading dock to wear slip-resistant shoes and that will improve safety. But no rubber soled slip resistant shoe is very effective on ice. Slip resistant shoe attachments but typically those most effective on ice can actually reduce traction on smooth dry and wet surfaces increasing the risk of injury. Most ice traction devices should not be worn when driving or operating a tow motor.

So if you have typical ice grips you have to instruct the employees to remove them every time they go indoors or hop back on the tow motor and that's not practical or even reasonable to expect. So in most cases the employees won't use the ice traction devices or not remove them and increase the risk of injury from a fall. If they do use them properly productivity suffers. Here's your answer...

Jordan David makes a product called Altragrips-Lite® slip resistant shoe attachments. They come in High Profile and Low Profile versions which is referring to the size of the studs. For this purpose of this article I want to focus on the Low Profile Altragrips® because they do give your crew excellent traction on ice, snow and slush plus a number of other slippery conditions and they don't have to be removed when going indoors and you can safely drive while wearing them. Your crew is safer with fewer injuries and productivity remains high.

The same reasons Altragrips are perfect for warehouse and loading dock safety also make them perfect of shuttle drivers, delivery drivers... any truck driver. They're in and out of the truck...in and out of doors...and obviously they have to drive. What could be better suited?

Altragrips are extremely durable, American made products. The studs are tungsten carbide. And since Altragrips are not part of the actual shoe you only use them when you need them further extending their life.

Since both Altragrips® and Altragrips-Lite® fit over your crew's existing there are no hygienic issues so they can be shared by different employees and shifts so you need fewer of them and you don't have to issue a new pair every time a new employee is hired.
