Who Yaktrax Run Is For
Yaktrax Run is designed specifically for winter runners. Runners have used Yaktrax since the original Yaktrax Walker, and the Yaktrax Pro added durability and stability. The Run goes further: it's anatomically designed for running shoes, with a right and a left foot, and it adds carbon steel studs where your feet strike the ground.
It's made for running on ice and packed snow, outdoors. It isn't designed for deep snow, slush, black ice, or mud, and like all Yaktrax it has to come off before you go indoors or drive.

Important Warnings and Safety Tips
Do not drive while wearing Yaktrax. The straps can catch on the pedals.
I do not recommend Yaktrax for running in cities. Yaktrax are slippery on smooth surfaces, including
- sewer grates;
- utility hole covers;
- flooring in train stations;
- metal steps on buses and trains; and
- tile, brick, or marble surfaces.
Do not use Yaktrax on surfaces covered with sand or loose gravel.

How do you put Yaktrax Run on your running shoes?

Is there any way you think they could be improved?
Yes. I would like to see tungsten carbide studs. The carbon steel studs are very durable, but tungsten carbide studs are even more durable. The downside is that tungsten carbide would definitely add to the cost.
Can Yaktrax Run be used for activities other than running?
Of course. But there are less expensive alternatives, like Yaktrax Walk and Yaktrax Pro.
Do Yaktrax work on black ice?
I do not recommend Yaktrax on black ice because you need more aggressive traction. Consider Winter Walking HIGH-PRO or Winter Walking LOW-PRO Ice Cleats.
I've read that Yaktrax have 10 times more biting edges than spiked ice cleats. Does this mean the traction is 10 times better?
No. The key to traction on ice is penetration. Yaktrax stainless steel coils are non-aggressive, so it takes hundreds of biting edges to equal the traction of just one well-designed spike. In addition, the non-aggressive coils become less effective in frigid temperatures, when ice is denser.
